THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Hoof-to-Hanger is a boutique animal fiber processing mill with limited capacity.  We specialize in small order processing to create high-quality finished products.

  • Appointments for deliveries must be made in advance. Expecting your delivery ensures we are available and ready to discuss your needs.

  • Small orders are our specialty – single fleeces (3-5 pounds) are okay. We excel in personal service and small-order inventories, tracking, processing.

  • Maximum fiber orders are limited to 40 pounds (approx 8 fleeces).

As a small mill, we offer personal attention to your processing.

  • Fiber processing / final products must be agreed upon before processing will begin. Processing decisions (blending, final product, colors, etc) must be agreed upon.

  • Upon completion of processing, payment and pickup must be within 30 days. Expenses and labor have been invested and must be met in a timely manner.

  • Fiber abandoned for 60 days will be claimed by Hoof-to-Hanger. Processing expenses will be recouped by marketing final products.

Hoof-to-Hanger quality begins with fine fibers.  Fiber cleaning is easily the most misunderstood part of fiber processing.  Fine finished products cannot be created from contaminated fibers.  We take exceptional care in hand picking, skirting, and washing fiber.  We are experts in fiber cleaning.  This part of processing takes from several days to several weeks to complete.  Our standards include:

  • Reasonable fiber cleanliness is required upon delivery.Excess VM/debris will incur additional skirting (sorting) charges

  • Reasonably skirted (sorted) fleeces are expected. Obvious trash in fleeces can easily be eliminated by basic skirting at home.

  • Fiber staple length must be at least 3” for spinning and not all fiber types are accepted. Some fiber types require attention beyond our reasonable capabilities.

  • Certain fibers require additional cleaning and attention to processing. Fine fibers (Suri, Pygora, etc) require additional wash cycles and slower processing.

  • Certain fibers will be blended for improved fiber processing / quality. Exceptional care is taken to decrease fiber loss / increase fiber quality/quantity.

  • Fiber assessments will be made upon delivery. Fiber quantity, quality, and condition will be evaluated upon arrival.

Hoof-to-Hanger is happy to serve those clients who desire our special services. Animal fiber processing is not inexpensive. We do our very best to limit expenses and ensure you receive a good return on your processing costs.

Please contact us to discuss your needs and establish fiber delivery appointments.
